Currently Booking Sessions For 2024

Maryland newborn Photographer

Bold, colorful and professionally styled  portraits.

There is nothing more adorable than professional photos of a newborn baby.

Capturing those first days of life are wonderful and ones that you can never get again. Often the first couple of months with a new baby are a blur, so having keepsake photos are a fantastic way to pause the clock, if only for a few moments.

The Experience

Once session is booked, we will be working together to customize your session, in terms of colors and more, to fit your style and needs.

All props, including headbands, wraps, outfits, wood props, backdrops, blankets, bonnets, layering pieces and more are provided by the studio. You do not need to bring anything except baby and if you have any sentimental heirloom you wish to use.

Once you arrive, baby will feed first if needed then we will start preparing baby for the session, meaning all clothing will be taken off except diaper. The studio will be kept warm especially the blankets and props we will be using for baby. Staying warm helps keep baby calm and in pose. Maintaining a calm environment helps to keep baby calm. I recommend mom and dad come in very comfortable loose clothing.

In-home lifestyle newborn sessions are also available. Baby and the entire family will be photographed in the nursery and around your home. This is not a posed newborn session and no studio props/light will be brought.

We truly enjoyed our photo session and we are excited to return for her milestone photos.

We took our daughter in for a newborn session that went absolutely amazing. Mary worked hard to ensure that our girl was safe and comfortable the entire time. The environment was calm and clean which was important to us. Mary and her assistant were gentle with our baby and initiative to her needs such as needing to eat, be cleaned, receive comfort, etc. At the last minute I requested a color scheme and Mary went above and beyond to accomadate our late request. The props and clothing she used were absolutely gorgeous.  We highly recommend Mary and her services! Book with her, you won’t be disappointed!

Frequently Asked Questions

I know my due date, but what if my baby has a different plan in mind?

Lol! No worries. It’s actually better to pay the retainer to reserve baby’s spot as soon as you know the expected delivery date. It is not uncommon to book your newborn shoot, when you are just a couple of months pregnant. This allows us ample time to go over color choices ahead of baby’s arrival and customize a session specific for your baby. Shoots are done within first 14days and, trust me, at that time you don’t want to be thinking about how to book a photo shoot when you are sleep deprived and getting the hang of feeding an infant. Also, when you book after arrival, dates often are booked and I may not be able to fit you into the already filled up schedule. Those clients with a pre-paid retainer always get date priority.

I don't want photos of a crying baby. How can we prevent this?

As the saying goes, babies eat, poop, and sleep. For studio posing, they do best when they are in a very deep sleep. We highly recommend that you feed your baby right before your leave your house for the shoot so that baby will sleep for at least an hour after arrival. Feel free to bring a pacifier to help sooth an upset baby to help get the best photos possible.

What if my baby poops or pees during the shoot?

Poop happens. A lot. It is completely common for a baby to soil their blankets during a shoot. They cannot control it afterall. We recommend bringing a couple of blankets in case one happens to get dirty. We also have several props that we use regularly for photo shoots. Please don’t feel embarrassed should an accident happen. I can assure you it happens more times that I can remember and its completely normal. Concerned about cleanliness? Not to worry. I wash all used props and blankets after each newborn session with non-scented detergent. Baby’s safety is our number one priority.

Will my baby be cold?

We regulate the temperature with the understanding that newborns need warmth. In addition to the blankets the photo shoot room is kept warm, since they are only wearing a diaper. We recommend that anyone who is attending the shoot dress comfortably, as sessions are usually an hour long. Having photos of those first few days of your baby’s life are so precious. With proper planning you can have a wonderful photo shoot with memories to last a lifetime.
